Government budget appropriations or outlays on research and development (GBAORD) for 2011 amount to EUR 2.065 billion. Increase from the previous year is EUR 76 million. In nominal terms research expenditure is set to rise by nearly 4 per cent. Government R&D expenditure as a proportion of overall government spending exclusive of debt servicing stands at 4.3 per cent. The share of public R&D funding of GDP is 1.09 per cent.
